The Datsuns at the Gaelic Theatre

I decided to go to this gig on a bit of a whim. I’ve been listening to their debut album regularly enough since it came out in 2002 and I’d been looking for an excuse to go to the Gaelic Theatre (so I bought a ticket not realising I’ll be going there three times this week!). I picked up the new album the other week and although I haven’t been able to listen to it a great deal, there’s some nice songs on there.

I was impressed with the great show the Datsuns put on. Before-hand I’d thought I would leave halfway through the set to get an early night but the few times it crossed my mind would see them launch energetically in to another great tune.

The crowd was hyped up and jumping so these few shots are from one little corner down towards the front of the stage for the first three songs or so until the mosh-pit exploded and I decided to go to the back of the venue to keep clear of the sweaty jumping boys (and subsequently to get a better view).

Particular favourite songs of the night (even if it was reliving life from a years ago) were Harmonic Generator, MF From Hell, Freeze Sucker, (the new) Who Are You Stamping Your Foot For? and their cover of the Ramones’ the KKK Took My Baby Away was sweet.

Great show, and boy can that boy scream.
