I can’t live without you (Saturday November 4th, 2006 - 17:24)
It’s been a busy week. In between work and life I’ve..
- been to 7 gigs in 8 days;
- snapped away at 5 venues (Spectrum (three times), Candy’s Apartment, the Loft, the Hopetoun Hotel, the Metro);
- and seen 18 bands (Warhorse, Batrider, Snowman, Bridezilla, The Ghosts, Mercy Arms, Red Riders, Weather Underground, Bingo Steve and the Magic Markers, Sol Levy, Beau Monde, Hand Me My Jetpack, Days Like Stars, Jakob, Soft Tigers, Shaky Hands (twice), the Spazzys, You Am I).
That’s probably the longest stint of (almost) solid gigging I’ve ever done in one city. However my more concerted efforts must be (wait a sec while I go searching for gig dates..):
- 9 gigs in 13 days in 13 cities across the width of America (JAMC 1998, and I saw Mercury Rev at 6 of those gigs as the support)
- 8 gigs in 10 days in 6 cities across east and west coast America (Freeheat 2000)
- 4 gigs in 4 days in 4 cities in 2 countries across Denmark and Sweden (Freeheat 2002)
What have I realised by figuring out these silly figures? I’m sorely overdue for some road-tripping! If only Jim Reid would get himself over to Australia for some shows.
