Those dashing young men known as Red Riders played their album launch in-store gig at Red Eye Records this afternoon to an appreciative and jiggling audience. I picked up the album, headed home, copied it to my iPod and went grocery shopping with Replica Replica playing in my ears, trying so very hard not to burst in to song while bagging some tomatoes. The album sounds more wonderful than I hoped.
I fear I degenerated in to a giggly teenager and I believe for the first time in my life I got something signed. Can that be? I’ve had a few signed CDs sent to me by bands without my having asked. I’ve bought a few books that I’ve taken home and found that they’d been signed. But I can’t think of a time I’ve actually asked for something to be signed.. strange.. you should try something new every day I guess.
Here’s the front cover then of the Slide in Next to Me 7″ they gave away with the album. Bless their cotton socks! Alex says that playing it at 33 rpm makes it sound like My Bloody Valentine and Adrian showed that he appreciates the Jesus and Mary Chain (but.. my love is stronger than your love!).
I remember a time when the Parkinsons signed something for you…. was no record sleeve though!
Hee Hee. So these Red Riders? What they like?
Aah how could I forget? You’re so very right! There was photographic evidence from the following day when I got back from Reading:
Red Riders are that sort of perky rock that everyone says is post-this or new-that.
Fairly sure I’ve tried to inflict them on you before but there’s some tracks at http://www.myspace.com/redridersmusic
*sigh* What a Amazingly, Awesomely Magnificently Tremendous time we had yesterday (Now thats talent hey!) haha
It was actually me you tried to foist your funky Aussie indie pop on, N. Red Riders was one of the two bands you told me to check out that I actually meant to follow up on. Can’t remember now who the other one was. *SHRUGS*
Guess now is the time to hear the R.R.’s debut, huh.
Caught some early RatCat singles from my fave late-80s indie period and was quite impressed. Really loved the single “Car Crash”. Is that the song??? Think it was that one. A bit like the buzz buzz buzz of the Primitives and JAMC. The ’90s singles were…um…well they just weren’t. Let’s leave it at that :). Might have to buy their Best Of if I come across it.
THE BELLY BUTTON’S BACK!!! Woot!! How could I forget that pic?!! Didn’t that spark a little bit of stir when you posted it on SCT ;)? Was back when you were doing the webcam show, wasn’t it? Did I just say that “out loud”. Oops ;).
Nice to be talking about the music again. Technology smechnology. Noise noise noise is for heroes.
Send me a line sometime, city girl.
