the stoneage hearts (Monday July 18th, 2005 - 23:06)

category: mmhuh?

the stems - tshirtSnuffly, cough and splutter of a Monday morning but when I got to work I found The Stems were staring up at me from a tshirt on my desk along with The Stoneage Hearts album Guilty as Sin! Earlier in the week I’d oggled over a workmate’s Stems tshirt so on Friday down in Melbourne he picked me one up from his brothers at Off the Hip. What a way to make a girl smile!

Guilty as Sin is a gem at first listen. Aussie garage rock to turn up loud for a good bit of jumping around (well I would if I didn’t have a head full of flu so I’ll just tap my toes and nod my head tonight). “Green With Envy”, “Someone Else’s Bubblegum”, “Sick of You” (the greatest break-up song I’ve ever heard!), “Your Smile”, “Rock’n’Roll Boys Rock’n’Roll Girls”, “Biff Bang Pow” – such short sweet rock. I want to see them live, they’d blast away most of the Sydney bands I’ve seen of late and that said considering I rave about so many of them. My ears feel fresh and I’m feeling very spoilt right now.

I am supremely jealous of that Stems t-shirt! Wow. Dom Mariani deserves to be revered by you Aussies. ‘Bout time you realized what rock legends you have lurking in your midsts ;). I looooooove the song “Rock N Roll Boys, Rock N Roll Girls.” Lostmusic should definitely know they are right up his alley because that very song is on a compilation I recently mailed him :).

Nice to see you wasted in song again, sweet Niina. Rock on, sister!

discovered said song on the CD later that very evening. Must pay closer attention. Closer. Attention. 😉
