category: mmhuh?

lamb on Australia day - anything else is unAustralian TV on in the background while I was working at home tonight and a voice filtered through my thoughts sounding very much like an election-time slug at some political party, but then I heard the words “tofu sausages” (yum). Huh? He went on to say “Look at our national song, Waltzing Matilda. It’s about a bloke trying to get a nice bit of lamb into his tuckerbag, not spicy chicken wings.” It was an ad to promote people to eat lamb on Australia Day. To not be un-Australian.

Later on during a 7 news update I heard that the Advertising Standards Bureau had dismissed complaints against the ads (which you can view at the meat and livestock australia site). It’s a funny ad. Apart from the bit about sending the hippies home. I like them hippies. Don’t show them the way to the airport please. Save the hippies! And if you eat meat, have some lamb on January 26 and support the Australian economy.

Baaa! Mary had a little tofu sausage doesn’t quite have the same ring to it.

In other things, Rider forgive me for not seeing Radio Birdman on the weekend. Pockets ain’t big enough.

Mmm, since renouncing my vegetarianism… I like lamb! (Welsh, of course). But it has to be cooked just right, pink with a tiny little bit of blood still dripping out of the middle (I recently heard that, because lamb cannot be reared intensively and because it is by definition meatn from a fairly young animal, it’s probably the safest meat to eat undercooked).
