error report for JK Rowling (unsent) (Saturday October 20th, 2001 - 16:11)
Dear Ms Rowling,
While reading your novel, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, I noticed a continuity error which I would like to point out to you.
The page references are from the children’s soft cover version:
page 135 –
Mayhem at the Ministry
‘It’s been absolute uproar,’ Percy told them importantly, the Sunday evening before they were due to return to Hogwarts.
page 141 – Aboard the Hogwarts Express
There was a definite end-of-the-holidays gloom in the air when Harry awoke the next morning.
So it seems that Harry, Ron and Hermione make their way to Hogwarts on Monday. They enjoy the feast, and go to sleep presumably waking up on Tuesday, but :
page 171 –
Mad-Eye Moody
The storm had blown itself out by the following morning …
‘Today’s not bad … outside all morning,’ said Ron, who was running his finger down the Monday column of his timetable …
Although I realise that anything is possibly in the world of Harry Potter, time travel in this style has never been mentioned and I believe it might indeed be an error.
