mainland europe, i’ve got my eye on you (Tuesday August 14th, 2001 - 00:00)
a combination of things:
- finishing up at my current job at the end of this week and no employment sought for yet (want to hire me?)
- reading jack kerouac’s lonesome traveller and halfway through the americas i skipped to the europe chapter, read it in one go (i’ve now returned to where i left off)
- the end of the year is creeping in to view and i remember my plan in january : see atleast six countries this year (hampered by the fact that in mid-january my passport was stolen, waiting for a new one the year rolled along and the momentum was lost)
- everyone’s talking about where they’ve been or where they’re going and i want a part of the fun
tonight i bought lonely planet : europe on a shoestring and i’ve been scowering web sites trying to decide where to go, what to see, and how to get there.
i’d like to visit spain later on this year (not many months left i guess, so let’s schedule that for late november).
i was in australia in june but i’m not sure whether to count that or not as it was, in a way, going back ‘home’.
so ideally i’d like to see 3 or 4 countries. by friday i’ll decide which.
